Celebrating the 35th anniversary of Australia's two dollar coin, the Royal Australian Mint proudly presents this stunning collection.
Featuring select commemorative designs that have appeared on the reverse of Australia's circulating two dollar coins over time, this collection celebrates our
nation's numismatic heritage. The two dollar coin was first introduced into general
circulation in Australia's Bicentenary year in 1988, replacing the two dollar note due to its short service life. The size of the two dollar was determined after considering the needs of the visually impaired community, security requirements and a desire to avoid shaped coins, amongst many other considerations.
Since its introduction, the two dollar coin has honoured historically and culturally important Australian stories, with the first of many commemorative two dollar
circulating designs released in 2012 with the Remembrance Day poppy.
Marrying tradition with innovation, this beautiful collection samples just some of the depth and breadth of Australia's two dollar history.
