One Flag Many Nations
50th Anniversary of the Australian Aboriginal Flag 2021 Uncirculated Year Set.
The Australian Aboriginal Flag was designed by Luritja and Wombai artist Harold Thomas in 1971, as a symbol of Aboriginal unity and identity.
From its rebellious beginnings the flag has become one of our most recognised symbols and was proclaimed an official Flag of Australia in 1995.
The black field on the flag represents the Aboriginal people, while the red below represents the earth and ceremonial ochre. The central yellow circle, beautifully realised here with the gold colour of the commemorative $2 coin, represents the protective and life-giving Sun.
This 2021 Uncirculated Year Set commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Australian Aboriginal Flag - an official Flag of Australia and a symbol of pride and unity for our First Nations Peoples.
Acknowledges the Ngunnawal People, traditional custodians of the land on which these coins were minted.
