2020 50c 1984 FORD XE FALCON GREENS-TUF

Dick Johnson, the likeable straight-talking Queenslander, self-built his 5.8 litre "Greens-Tuf" Ford Falcon XE for the 1984 ATCC season, his chance at his third title in four years 1984 was the last ATCC for the so-called "Big Bangers" - the cars built to Australia's unique Group C rules in the 1970s and early 1980s.

The imposing XE with its striking green livery benefited from some new technical freedoms. 335kW of power and 675Nm of torque were supported by enormous 19-inch diameter rear wheels with 14-inch wide tyres. The "green monster" carried Johnson to his 1984 ATCC victory, narrowly beating his arch-rival, Peter Brock.
